BC Care Providers CEO, Daniel Fontaine welcomes Jennifer Lyle as SafeCare BC’s first Executive Director

We are proud to announce Jennifer Lyle as the new executive director of SafeCare BC. As both a practising Kinesiologist and a published author, Lyle brings with her a rich background in health care and a wealth of experience. Lyle will be joining SafeCare BC as the first executive director, after a search that drew in over 50 applications from across Canada.

“I am pleased and excited to be a part of SafeCare BC, and I very much look forward to working with our stakeholders to develop and support initiatives to reduce injuries in the long term care sector,” says Lyle.

Lyle received her Masters of Health Administration from the University of British Columbia and is a practising Kinesiologist.  While obtaining her Master’s Degree, Lyle focused her research on, Barriers to patient and family involvement in planning of transfers from acute to residential care facilities: Perceptions of healthcare providers. Working with and serving as the Director of Operations for Total Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre since 2008, Lyle brings an extensive technical understanding of workplace injuries and how they occur. As the Director and Marketing Chair of the BC Association of Kinesiologists, she has lead the growth of the organization and the practice of kinesiology through liaising with external stakeholder such as the Ministry of Health.  Furthermore, from 2008-2009 Lyle worked on the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority/ Simon Fraser University: Special Care Unit Research Project, co-authoring the final report evaluating the design and care policies of 26 special care units in the VCH region.

Jennifer Lyle is the new Executive Director for SafeCare BC

When Lyle is not championing organizations or practising kinesiology, she is an avid ultimate Frisbee player, and was the coach of the SFU Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team. However, even in her downtime, Lyle has found ways to use her impressive background in kinesiology in the sport she loves, coordinating a workshop focused on Injury Prevention for Ultimate Players, with the Vancouver Ultimate League.

“Jennifer brings with her an impressive background and it is easy to tell she is passionate about her work,” says Daniel Fontaine BCCPA CEO and SafeCare BC hiring committee member. “We are thrilled to bring her on board as the first SafeCare BC Executive Director and have her lead the organization in the years to come.”
