Opening Workshop Sells Out!
June 24, 2014 | News
With a little over one week since opening registration, we are pleased to announce that the first SafeCare BC health and safety workshop is officially sold out! Eighty facility managers, employers, and front-line care providers will be in attendance for the opening training session on September 22nd.
“It is great to see this kind of response in our kick-off workshop,” says Jennifer Lyle, ED. “Earlier this year we undertook a training needs assessment to determine the training and resource needs of the sector. We are pleased to offer a series of workshops that reflect the results of that survey.”
The workshop titled, Creating Connections: Working with Individuals with Dementia, is co-hosted with the Alzheimer Society of BC. During this single-day workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, receive key tips for communication, and learn how to be creative in dealing with some of the behaviours common among persons with dementia.
The event is the first installment of a series of dementia care training workshops that will be held over the next year by SafeCare BC in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of BC. The partnership between the two organizations was announced during a joint session at the BC Care Providers Association Annual Conference in May. SafeCare BC will be hosting its second workshop in the fall. Be sure to check back for a detailed announcement in the coming weeks.
Thank you to all those attending, and we look forward to seeing the rest of you at future workshops!
