Teleforum re: BC Emergency Health Services Notice – No More “Lift Assist” Calls

February 20, 2017 | News

Join us for a SafeCare BC-moderated panel discussion on the  BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) recent bulletin regarding their new policy stance towards “lift assist” calls for paramedics. Recently, the BCEHS sent out a letter to notify long term care homes that the BCEHS would no longer be providing lift assistance in instances where no medical care is required. The original notice can be found here.

The purpose of this panel discussion is to clarify BCEHS’ position on lift assist calls, how this change will be rolled out, how the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations tie-in with the issue of resident transfers, what solutions may be available for certain transfer scenarios, and to provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions.

Panelists will include:

  • BC Emergency Health Services – Emily Hamilton
  • WorkSafeBC
  • Home Medical Equipment Dealers Association – Michelle Harvey, Robert Boscacci

This free 60 minute teleforum will take place on February 24th. You can register here.
