Following a rigorous recruitment process, which resulted in over 60 applications from across the country, the SafeCare BC Board is pleased to announce that Saleema Dhalla has been selected to lead the organization as our new CEO.
She was selected based on her clear vision for the organization, demonstrated leadership abilities, skills and experience with occupational health and safety, and fit with the existing team.
Saleema had been serving as the interim CEO since June of this year and first joined the organization in 2017 as the director of workplace health and safety programs. She also served as the acting CEO between 2016 and 2017, after which she took on a role as the senior director of strategic engagement and development.
We are looking forward to this next phase in the development of SafeCareBC.
“There is a lot of opportunity that lies ahead for SafeCare BC, and I look forward to building on the momentum that we already have. The pandemic has increased the ability for our work to impact the sector that needs it the most and has shaped SafeCare BC to be stronger when faced with new challenges.
I look forward to working with our stakeholders and partners to integrate safety into all our actions and decisions to promote leading practices that address both physical and psychological safety.
It is gratifying to be given the opportunity to work in a capacity that aligns with both my personal and professional goals.
My vision for SafeCare BC closely matches my own personal values, and why I chose this work in the first place. A workplace free from injury is what I would like to see. Focusing these efforts in the care sector, deepens my passion for this work. I truly believe that those working in healthcare deserve this care and support and that’s why I find the work of SafeCare BC so meaningful and inspiring.”
