Spotlight on Safety – An Addition to Admission Protocol

June 21, 2022 | News

When it comes to providing care in a healthcare setting, every member of an organization plays a direct part—even if they don’t realize it. Those in support services roles are key to workplace health and safety, and this is illustrated by Menno Place’s submission to the 2022 Safety Den, An Addition to Admission Protocol.

The process is designed to prevent scabies, lice, and bed bugs. Clothes, blankets, and other laundry that come from outside the home and residence go directly to the laundry department to be washed and labelled before being sent to the resident’s room. Personal items that cannot be washed are bagged for three days and kept in a designated area in the laundry.

As Menno notes, infestations are difficult and expensive to get rid of. An Addition to Admission Protocol helps add an extra layer of protection.
