Update on Booster Vaccines for Fall 2022

July 8, 2022 | News

Last week, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization published interim guidance on a fall 2022 COVID-19 vaccine booster (a ‘second booster’ or ‘fourth dose’). BC’s Health Minister, Adrian Dix, confirmed in a press conference that the province was looking at how to roll out another booster shot—currently available to some groups such as the over 70s and residents of long-term care—as we approach respiratory season. SafeCare BC will continue to work with our partners at the Ministry of Health to make sure that further COVID-19 boosters are easily available to all those working in continuing care once available, and we will keep you informed as soon as the province announces more detailed plans.

If you haven’t yet had your first booster you can do so as soon as it’s been 6 months since your second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. This will be the case for most people working in long-term care and home care in BC. If you have questions about the booster, or about vaccines in general, you can learn more at safecarebc.ca/vaccination.
