Earlier this year, Mark Ryan joined the team as our Vaccine Education and Training Advisor.

Mark has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and Bachelor of Education with a minor in Special Education, and has taught almost every subject in grades 7 to 12. Now Mark is lending his education experience to a new field.

You can get to know Mark a little better by reading his answers to some of our questions below:
Q: What interested you about working at SafeCare?
A: I was most interested in the opportunity to be back in an education-focused role, especially on such an important project.

Q: What excites you about your role?
A: I’m excited to share some information about how vaccines work to protect ourselves and our communities.

Q: What was your first, or most unusual job?
A: I once spent the summer working in a Green Shack program in Edmonton where I played games and did arts & crafts with kids at a community playground. I became really good at climbing playground equipment that summer!

Q: If given a chance, who would you be for a day?
A: A superhero, for sure! Probably, Thor? I’d love to see what it feels like to fly and be that strong.

Q: When not at work, what do you like doing in your spare time?
A: In search of the best pastries in Vancouver!

Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, the author of Drive My Car which was just released as a movie this last year.

Q: What did you want to be growing up?
A: At one point, I wanted to be a video game tester so I could just play video games all day.

Q: What is one thing we don’t know about you?
A: I ran a conference for 600 Kinesiology undergraduate students in the last year of my undergrad degree.
