Changes to Emergency Planning for Chemical and Biological Agents

Amendments to WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Part 5: Chemical Agents and Biological Agents – Emergency Planning will come into effect between May and June this year.

A full summary of the changes can be found here. Highlights include:

  • The obligation to “prepare” an inventory of hazardous drugs was amended to “prepare and maintain” to ensure it is kept up to date.
  • Evaluation of Safety Data Sheets will be added to the risk assessment process.
  • Assigned roles and responsibilities will be required for emergency planning.
