Proposed addition to WorkSafeBC’s regulation for general risk management

January 24, 2024 | News

WorkSafeBC is proposing an addition to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR), Part 3, Rights and Responsibilities, by adding a general risk management process for identifying and assessing known or reasonably foreseeable hazards and controlling risks. This section will focus on hazards that are not already prescriptively described in the Act or Regulation.

This section includes employer responsibilities for:

  • Keeping risk management records current and readily available.
  • Consulting with the JOHS committee/worker H&S representative as well as workers who are knowledgeable about the workplace, the work carried out, and the associated hazards.

These changes may affect your risk management program. If you would like support with these changes please contact Jennifer at: or check out our hazard identification webpage for more resources.

You can view the proposed changes and offer feedback to WorkSafeBC hereThe deadline is 4:30 p.m. on February 9. If you prefer to send your feedback to SafeCare BC for our collated submission, please send your feedback to no later than February 1.
