Innovation Idea:
At Eden Gardens we had a great idea to increase safety in our care home for people living with dementia. We have created an in-house safety video library.
The purpose of this library is to promote a culture of safety for all our staff.

How does your idea improve workplace health and safety?
The impact is a culture of safety. Engaging every staff member, they can watch them at home before a shift. We can encourage other care homes to utilize this method as well. Many procedures are universal and we are all teaching these procedures in different ways. Many of our casuals work at several homes,
and they are so overwhelmed with all the policies of each home. These videos can be a quick refresher.

Stars are born, ideas are shared, and they self-promote the videos. The beauty of these videos is that everyone is receiving the same information.

How did you implement this idea?
Our staff are the stars. They are writing the scripts, suggesting the actresses and producers, and have even suggested an awards ceremony at year end for the best video. The experience has been excellent for team building, and we are receiving suggestions for new safety videos to be added. We expect that this will reduce our injury rates and keep our team safe.

What has been the impact on workplace health and safety?
Our staff are now curious, and even excited about safety and the procedures. We have even improved some procedures due to safety feedback from our staff.
