How does your idea improve workplace health and safety?
We have an active Joint Health and Safety Committee and we wanted to try to engage our employees; to ensure when we are doing our monthly site inspections, that our role, as Safety Committee members are taken seriously. Our team came up with Safety Vests and had them stitched on the back to say “Joint Health and Safety Committee” so that any employees and teams could SEE us when we did inspections and understand our role.

How did you implement this idea?
As the Community Administrator of our care home, I oversee the Joint Health and Safety Committee and take the position seriously. I always want to ensure our employees, residents and families are safe in our home; that we feel comfortable to work here and our residents have a safe home to live in.

What has been the impact on workplace health and safety?
The vests have been a win-win for all of us and a great safety initiative to share with other organizations.
